Winemaker’s comments (Winemaker: Pieter Badenhorst)
The wine is light yellow in colour with green tints. Lightly wooded, this full-bodied wine shows an abundance of guava, ripe melon and honey blossom aromas with subtle oak flavours. On the palate this full-bodied wine displays tropical fruit, butterscotch and vanilla.

This wine has a dark ruby colour with purple edges. On the nose it shows ample aromas of plums and prunes enhanced by a sweetish fruitcake character with a slight vanilla oak finish.Full-bodied on the palate with ripe plum flavours, this robust red is supported by a good tannic backbone.

"The wine shows a rich golden colour. On the nose it is packed with layers of rich tropical fruit such as pineapple and mango with an abundance of peaches, apricot and dried fruit. The wine is full-bodied with vanilla oak spice flavours", says winemaker Kobus Gerber.

This wine shows cinnamon and cigar box on the nose with hints of black currant and red cherries. The nose finishes with hints of perfume, supplemented by the careful use of oak.

A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. A prominent core of intense pear fruit aromas and flavours is brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of natural acid and a dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.

Finely oaked, with aromas and flavours of raspberry, cherry and plum, with hints of game, develop to a deeper more complex, earthy, mushroom character with bottle age. The Pinot flavoured ripe sweetness is held together by fair tannins and perfect balance.

A great example of cool climate sauvignon, with slightly more green pepper and green figs on the nose, after which gooseberry and granadilla aromas come through. The palate is full, rich, and packed with flavour, with a mineral character in the lingering tail. This wine can be enjoyed with salads, seafood or on its own.

A vibrant wine with the classic riesling flavours of spice and florals. The palate is fruity and very elegant and refined with a lingering aftertaste due to the good acidity of the wine. This wine can be enjoyed on release with slightly spicy food or cellared for a further 5-7 years.

Delicious litchi, rose petal and honeysuckle aromas on the nose that carry through to the mouth, which is bursting with fruit flavour through to a lovely long and clean finish. This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with spicy Asian dishes. Drink while young and fresh.

This noble variety is bursting with aromas of citrus, marmalade and a lovely toastiness. The flavours are complex and show a well-integrated combination of ripe fruit and nuances of oak. As you sip, these flavours are long and lingering. This wine can be enjoyed now with creamy seafood or chicken dishes or cellared for 5 years.

A delectable combination of plum and dark berry flavours on the nose, with hints of chocolate and mocha. The palate is packed with sweet soft fruit and shows the great texture of well-structured tannins. Made to be enjoyed now but will certainly age well for 5 years, drink with roasted meat dishes.

The pinot has an excellent colour with lots of wild berry fruit on the nose complemented with hints of chocolate, violet and coffee. The complex palate is brimming with sweet berry flavours that are long and lingering with a velvety finish. The wine has tightly structured tannins ensuring that it will age for 5-7 years, though it can be enjoyed young. Delicious with venison, duck and game fish.

Bursting with blackberry and blackcurrant fruit on the nose, along with well-integrated toastiness which emanates from the use of quality oak. As a cool climate cabernet, the palate is very complex and well-structured, packed with layers of fruit and a persistent finish. This wine can be enjoyed young but will gain complexity if cellared a further 4 to 8 years. Ideal for fine meat dishes.

Weisser Riesling Noble Late Harvest

Packed with dried apricot, spice and honey character on the nose. The mouth feel is full and impressively rich but with superb balance, the result of elegant acidities. The aftertaste seems to linger forever. This wine will gain complexity after 2 to 5 years in the bottle. The perfect way to end a meal, or enjoy with flavourful cheeses.

The deep alluvial soil and river stones add rich, full juicy tropical fruit flavours. A perfect lunchtime wine with calamari.

Round quartzite and sandstone boulders form the terroir where this vineyard is located. It arrived here over many years rolling from the mountain slopes around the valley. An individualistic Sauvignon blanc with a few years maturation ability. Herbaceous flavours of asparagus and fig leaves and creamy richness on the palate make this an exceptional food Sauvignon blanc.

The vineyard is planted where Weltevrede originated in 1912. Limestone rich terroir. Rich tropical pineapple, peach and passionfruit flavours combined with butterscotch and toffee on the palate. Complements food of substance like roast duck, chicken, curries, paella and shellfish dishes.

This Chardonnay breaks the mould. The broken shale rock gives the ‘Place of Rocks’ Chardonnay the most wonderful fresh minerally flavours of citrus and lime. Fermented and aged for ten months in French barriques.

Inspired in France this is a chunky red blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Rich flavours of ripe black cherries, rich plumminess a blueberry flavours end with a chocolaty texture on the palate.
