Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 on the site of an earlier distillery built in 1826.
Palate Very full, rich and tantalizing in flavour development. Sherry sweetness, cereal grain, malt, and a fruitiness are readily evident.
Finish Very rich, long and lingering. Some smoke is evident near the end.

The distillery known as Knockdhu (not Knockando) was founded in 1894 and is located about seven miles north of Huntly.
Palate Quite sweet, smooth, with some sweetness and fruity notes.

TASTE - An initial moderate and clean sweetness of deep peat notes, with tobacco smoke and strong espresso coffee, which then gives way to treacle sweetness and liquorice.The mouthfeel is firstly lightly spiced, then chewing, and mouthwatering and full, finally drying.
FINISH - Long and smoky. A smoky sweetness is left on the palate, with a crushed peat and sweet-malted cereal character. (DISTILLER'S TASTING NOTES)

Nose: Initially soft, before the anticipated tar and leather.
Palate: Soft, aromatic and fruity - runs to phenolics.
Finish: Tar,creosote,Leather,Runs long and dry.

This premium expression has been created from specially selected casks from 1990, 1993 plus much older, sherry cask-matured Ardbeg. The resulting malt is true to the 'house style' but with an additional luscious richness.

Ardbegs Airigh Nam Biest (pronounced Arry Nam Baysht) uses exclusively 1990 distillate. As it is older than the 10 year old it is a softer more rounded whisky with a creamy, smoky flavour and hints of fennel and pine nuts.

This is one of the rare, triple-distilled single malts--Benrinnes, Springbank and Rosebank being the only others. Auchentoshan is a very light-bodied malt.
Light gold. Very smooth. Hints of aniseed and raisins with a lime freshness. Tangerine and fruit flavours with a definite sweetness in the aftertaste. Light, fresh and clean.

Sweet and lightly fruity with a toffee character. Superbly balanced with a round finish.

A full-bodied malt with aromas of raisin, green apple and hints of banana and lemon. The American oak barrels, used in the distillate’s maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance.

Built next to William Grant's Glenfiddich distillery in 1892. The stills came second-hand from Lagavulin and Glen Albyn.

The distillery was closed in 1983 and since then the buildings have been demolished.

The founders of Benriach Distillery could not have selected a worse time to build a distillery. Established in 1897 or 1898, the whisky recession was but a couple of years away. It closed operations in 1900, not to open again until 1965.
Palate Medium dry, with cereal notes and a hint of spice.
Finish Medium in length. The floral notes come through again.
