Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 on the site of an earlier distillery built in 1826.
Palate Very full, rich and tantalizing in flavour development. Sherry sweetness, cereal grain, malt, and a fruitiness are readily evident.
Finish Very rich, long and lingering. Some smoke is evident near the end.

TASTE - An initial moderate and clean sweetness of deep peat notes, with tobacco smoke and strong espresso coffee, which then gives way to treacle sweetness and liquorice.The mouthfeel is firstly lightly spiced, then chewing, and mouthwatering and full, finally drying.

The founders of Benriach Distillery could not have selected a worse time to build a distillery. Established in 1897 or 1898, the whisky recession was but a couple of years away. It closed operations in 1900, not to open again until 1965.
Palate Medium dry, with cereal notes and a hint of spice.
Finish Medium in length. The floral notes come through again.
